Nope. Like most military families, we both have SGLI (+ spouse).We use Navy-Mutual Aid, best rates anywhere. My husband also has a second policy with MetLife, great rates (much better than USAA), fantastic service and they always pay out for combat deaths. After Major Kevin Shea was killed by an incoming mortar 2 hrs into the turnover, the Command dictated everyone sit down and seriously rethink their finances if they were killed on active duty. It was a sobering exercise, and one I encourage everyone to do, and be realistic about.
