    M-16 Trivia

I heard this in Boot when we played fun and games in the woods during third phase and do not know if it is true or just part of our folklore (the FOG's will know). Why was the flash supressor changed from 3 fingers to the newer style with the fingers attached to a ring at the end?[8]

    RE: M-16 Trivia

When firing in the prone position or a position, where the muzzel is close to the ground or dust and such..........the muzzel blast will not kick up and create a signature to be seen by your opponent or obstruct your view. This first appeared in 1985-1986, when, the then new, M-16A2 was issued.

    RE: M-16 Trivia

Gunny-we had the closed end flash supressor on the A1 in 1981 when I was in boot. Many of the open end flash supressors were also in use. I was looking for the answer pertaining to broken supressors when used for breaking the wire on rations boxes. Thanks, Paul
