I would like to know how to find rooms on or around the base to stay in whe I go out there in Oct. do I need to talk to his recuriter or map quest it? I just h[?]ope the next 2 months fly by. Laverne

If you are going to San Diego check out this website. www.usmcgradsadiego.org. Max helps with everything. We stayed at Howard Johnsons. It was good, close and they support a Marine Corps relief fund.

There's a hotel on base that's really cheap. I can't remember the name, but it's where my family stayed when I graduated in June. It's really cheap, but it's nice. It's right behind the food court, so when your new Marine eats himself sick he can walk just 100 yards or so and sit in the air conditioning. =P

You can stay in the Transient barracks on the base. The rates are cheap, like $19/night, call at least 2 weeks ahead of time and tell them you are there for graduation. (619) 524-4401. Bring your own pillow, because theirs really sucks!! We stayed there for our sons' graduation in April. DON'T FORGET YOUR PILLOW!

We got 2 rooms, 2 twin beds in each, connecting bathrooms, for $13.00 per night on the base!! And the great thing about staying on the base is we can go to the place they first exercise, etc., on Wednesday at 4am!!! Get to see them!!!! When does yours graduate? Ours is Sept. 1
