    Creatine

I've been taking that for a couple months and my bench press has gone up significantly higher than what I was doing in high school. It's one supplement that has been proven to work. It's about 20 bucks a month.

    RE: Creatine

ISS, recommended to me from a couple who both have master's in the subject and who are health nuts. I started benching at about 215 in March, having only benched 230 in high school and now I bench 275+.

i dont like the older creatines such ass ISS and Muscletechs, they holdstoo much water which is bad if your are trying to stay cut and as soon as you stop taking it, your strength and size will decrease again.

If you wanna try a good product, try VPXs "NO2 Shotgun", it has a newer form of creatine thats works better and doesnt hold as much water.  I dont take it myself, but have heard of nothin but good stuff about the product.

I like to take a product called Luekik, which helps your liver in the process of proteins.  Leukik is an amino acid that your liver cannot filter.  I take about 1000mg a day when I am stacking supplements.   So, basically, any protein you take in will not be processed by your liver and go straight to your muscles and create great gains in size and strength.  Basically, your not getting the "artificial pump" you get with creatine products.

    Re: Creatine

creatine is legal and even sold in the PX.  From what I have been told, anything you can buy a GNC is legal.  There are some products sold that may be questionable, such as testosterone boosters, but since its all natural products, I dont see how it could be bad.  All most of these products do is help deliver proteins, amino acids, oxygen and water to your muscles for recovery and growth.

Now, when talking about testosterone boosters, these products activate your pitiuatry gland to stimulate testosterone production in your body.  Natural testosterone levels in the average male body is around 1500-1800.  Some of these boosters will cause your body to produce in the 2K-3K ranges, 3K being on the upper limit and more expensive products.

I dont know the regs on these boosters, but the only way that anyone will know you are taking them is by increased levels of testosterone in your blood, such as the tour de france winner lat year.  Being all natural, these products are safe if taken correctly, if not, the after side effects can include acne, hair loss and on some occasions mood swings.  These side effects tend to come in when the product is not taken by recomended doses and when the user never "cycles" off the product.

What I do know is illegal is steroids, of any type.  This is basically pumping artificial and/or non-human testostorone into your body.

Here's a question then from a female counterpart. I've been working out recently, taking Whey protein, and just trying to loose fat and build muscle. What might be your basic reccomendations for someone who is sitting in the mid to low weight range for their height and weight but wants to create muscle without getting a "She-man" thing going on. I've always been leery of taking Creatine because of the muscle mass it tends to produce.

Just a warning but be carefull with creatine. If the muscles develop to fast they have an increased chance of tearing when you max out. However the stuff realy works there no doubt about it. When I used it I was benching about 315lbs. But I also tore my pectoral minor Tongue Tied

Stay away from the creatine.  I say this simply because of what you are trying to accomplish and what creatine does for you counteract.  Creatine sole prupose is to "get big."  It does this by increasing water retention in the muscles.  You are trying to "cut up."  This is done by by cardio, light weight, high reps, and drceasing your water retention.  Most of the fat we(humans) store is made up of water weight.  I know it doesnt make sense, but an easy way to lose this is by drinking more water, at least a gallon a day.  Our bodies hold water because we dont hydrate enough.  So, by drinking, your body will stop storing the water and you will flush it out of your system.  "Water pills," do the same thing, but they must taken with a gallon of water per day.  If you want to try these pilss, Taraxatone is a good brand and cost about 20-25 bucks for a month supply.

As far as whey protein goes, whey is consdered the building block of all supplements.  Point blank, your body needs protein for your muscles to grow.  Whey is a good source of protein because it comes from milk and is processed easily by the liver.  Other supplements basically assist in the delivery of protein, making them usless without protein intake.  Protein shakes are excellent post-workout, as your body needs to be replenished within one-hour after working your muscles for them to grow.  You can also take a shake as a meal substitute.  It will help fill you up yet give you the energy you need for the day.  But be careful, some people use shakes as a meal substitute but dont work out.  SInce whey comes from milk, it will cause you to get bloated if you dont burn those calories.

For you, AlaskanGirl, I recommend a prtein called "Isopure."  It is a little more expensive than most proteins, but you get 50g of protein in one scoop.  But the main reason I recommend it is because Isopure is 100% pure whey isolate.  This means it has ZERO carbs and ZERO sugars, which other proteins like to add for flavor and added calories.  I took Isopure for 4 months while hitting the gym 5 days a week.  I lost 25 lbs total and 15% body fat.  At 170lbs currently, this means I actually lost a lot more than 25lbs of fat because I had pretty good muscle growth. Isopure doesnt taste as good as some, but if you add a scoop of peanut butter with the Vanilla flavor it makes it pretty tasty and adds a few grams of protein.

Another recommendation real quick, try taking in about 75% of your weight in grams of protein a day.  Guys who go for massive gains take 100-125% of their weight.  So, if you weigh 100lbs, take in 75g of protein a day.  One shake usually gives you 50grams per serving.  Try to get the rest from meats such as beef, grilled chicken, and fish.  To give you an idea; a small can of tuna, 8oz of chicken, or 6oz of steak have about 30 grams of protein each.  You dont want to get all your protein from a shake, so one shake a day should be fine for you.

Last of all, unlike the previous post, I wouldnt worry about your muslces tearing in the sense of the previous post.  This doesnt happen because they grow too fast or are getting too big,  it happens from not stretching correctly prior to a workout.  Your muslces will always tear when you work them.  This is how they get bigger.  Lifting weight causes you to tear your muslces, and your body repairs them by filling in those gaps with more muscle, hence, you get bigger.  Just make sure you stretch correctly and you wont "pull" a muscle.

Thank you for your input, I really do appreciate it. And I know about the muscle tearing... in track we covered it, because alot of our sprinters would gain alot of muscle in their first couple of months of training - and would tear their muscles like no bodies business.... I am a Huge advocate of stretching, and it always upsets me when I don't see people stretch, and then they complain when they get hurt....

Once again thank you for the input and I'll try to put it to use in my daily program.
